Just A Few Of Our Commonly Asked Questions.
Do you train all breeds?
Yes, however some breeds or dogs are easier to train than others. Either way, all dogs can learn and benefit from training. What are your training methods?
We are knowledgable in many training methods, and will help guide owners down the easiest path to success. We are knowledgable in clicker training, treat training, leash training and remote collar training. Remote collar training is the best and most effective modern training tool. It's the only off-leash training that is relatively reliable for any kind of distance training. What are your prices?
We review all prices and training packages in person during your free dog training demonstration. We discuss your goals and find a suitable training program for your needs. Where do the dogs stay during the board and train?
The dogs stay at the trainers houses so that they can train the dogs multiple times a day at various intervals. We take a limited number of dogs at a time to ensure lots of quality training time for your pup. The dogs get to hang out with other dogs in training if they are sociable. What should I bring when I drop off my dog for a board and train?
Please bring your dogs current health records showing shots and flea medicines. Bring your dogs food for the duration of the stay. Ask if you should bring a kennel. We do have kennels but if you have a larger or smaller dog then you many want to supply one. Please create an instruction sheet for your dogs meals, medicines, etc. You are welcome to bring toys but we don't recommend it as we can't guarantee that it will make it home in one piece. Treats are welcomed but not necessary. Bring any necessary collar and leash and you are all set! What should I do to prepare for my free demo?
I would recommend watching some the videos on the video tab before your demonstration so that you can become familiar with Attention Dog Training's style. At the demo please bring up any questions you may have. We are here to serve and help you have maximum success with your dog. Do you train service dogs?
No we do not train service dogs. We focus on obedience training and a lot of the obedience training will transfer over to the service dog training. Are you hiring?
We currently offer unpaid mentor programs. If you demonstrate reliability and competence then yes, there are possibilities for more. We want to see how you handle a variety of dogs first? We also want to see how well you interact with the client before we hire you. This isn't like a typical job in that a certain level of skill is required. If you show competence with your skills and also show good customer service then we will notice. Our best dog trainers are usually the people who consistently show up to class and do the work. Our clients are often the best new trainers. |
Do you take payment plans?
Yes, we are willing to work with you how ever we can. Board and Train programs are typically paid 1/2 on your dogs pick up and the balance on the drop off. Do you offer video or photos during the dogs board and train?
Yes, we always send updates typically via text message. At least every other day expect a photo or video update which helps keep you updated on places we've trained and documents your pups progress. Where do the demos take place?
Most demos are in your home, or at the trainer's house. Occasionally we will meet in public if it makes sense. How old should my puppy be before they start training?
We recommend puppies to be at least 4 months old before starting a bootcamp style training. However, all other programs allow us to start training immediately at any age. Can my kids train the dog?
Yes kids can train the dogs but if they are younger than 18 then they need to be accompanied by an adult. Maturity and life experience are also factors that affect how affective your training will be. Are remote collars safe to use?
Absolutely! They are used for attention as a communication device. The dial can be adjusted for comfortability on the dog. Collars should be removed overnight and when swimming to avoid hot spots. The metal can rub and irritate if wet or left on too long. As long as you are responsible to follow the trainers instructions then you are good to go:) . All training tools can be abused, a leash, a choker, a prong collar and any other training tool. It's really about the handler learning skills so that they are safe with the dog and using training aids appropriately. We love our pets and want the best for them. Do you train aggressive dogs?
Yes but please have a muzzle for the dog if you want the handler to work with it. We recommend muzzles with straps that go up the nose. Muzzles should be measured to get a comfortable fit. Do you do OFF Leash training?
Absolutely! We love off leash training and most of our dogs are reliable off leash. Please check your local leash laws and if you do go off leash then make sure you are in an area that allows off leash. Tickets for dogs off leash can be expensive. Off leash training is a good safety measure in case you accidentally dropped the leash as well. Do you do potty training?
Yes we do offer potty training but we recommend doing a full training package for maximum results. |
